The Junta de Andalucía has awarded the consortium the contract to coordinate handover of the final works to the concessionaire and the commissioning of the section from El Perchel to La Alameda.
The long-awaited arrival of the Malaga metro to the city center is quickly approaching. While it awaits the first cars that will soon run from El Perchel to Alameda Principal in the test phase, with the official opening expected next August, the Junta de Andalucía has just awarded the final pending contract: the coordination of the remaining works and the plan to integrate the section into the rest of the suburban network.
The joint venture formed by Inse Rail and Betancourt Ingenieros was awarded the contract for 1.3 million euros. The completion period is one year, although the Department of Public Works clarifies that this is “a maximum deadline and includes the warranty period, so it is neither indicative nor significant”.
The contract for ‘Technical assistance services to coordinate the works for the handover to the concessionaire and supervise commissioning’ of the central sections basically consists of verifying proper execution of the works, installations and railway signaling systems on the route, which runs under Callejones del Perchel and Avenida de Andalucía, ending at Alameda Principal.
This will be the last step to hand over the works to the operating company for the upcoming commissioning. It requires complying with the guarantee required by the concessionaire to ensure that the work that it will receive complies with all of the requirements.
