Inse Rail is developing the PLUSRAIL project in collaboration with the CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial/Center for Industrial Technological Development). Its goal is to develop advanced simulation tools for the design, analysis, and optimization of railway networks. The models that are generated will be used to analyze and optimize railway networks in terms of energy efficiency, as well as to reduce electromagnetic disturbances, harmonic emissions, and limitation of forward and contact voltages that are harmful for the railway environment.

Through the development of the PLUSRAIL project, Inse Rail is facilitating and improving the process to analyze and optimize technological alternatives and solutions to offer the best solutions to specific problems in the railway sector in shorter times, providing design teams with more efficient calculation tools.

The development of the activities in the PLUSRAIL project is aimed at achieving the following objectives:

  • Analysis of technological solutions implemented in the railway sector.
  • Development of a comprehensive model that allows the simulation of railway systems at both the infrastructure and rolling stock levels.
  • Development of algorithms that make it possible to analyze the principal electrical variables that are obtained, in order to optimize the railway system’s components.
  • Optimization of the operating regime for train movements to obtain a model aimed at reducing energy consumption.
  • Development of models to evaluate and mitigate critical impacts such as harmonics and electromagnetic disturbances.
  • Study of optimized components with the pantograph-catenary interaction.
