The purpose of this project This construction project is part of the Strategic Infrastructure and Transportation Plan, with the Bobadilla – Algeciras Railroad as one of the elements to be upgraded in order to adapt it to high speed. The entire line will be electrified at 25 kV AC, compatible with AVE (high speed) trains. This will allow AVE, Avant, conventional diesel and freight trains to travel on the line.

is to equip the electrification installations with a 2 x 25 kV system with all of the necessary traction elements, consisting of 2 400/ 2 x 27.5 kV and 30 MVA traction substations, 9 intermediate autotransformer centers (IAT) and 2 end autotransformer centers (EAT), as well as the design of the remote power control on the Bobadilla – Algeciras line.

The section included in this contract is 175 km long, passing through the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga.

The design consists of the execution of all the necessary installations in each one of the elements of traction with detailed construction projects, as well as a study of the electrical dimensioning, RAMS analysis, interoperability, etc, and all of the administrative procedures for processing the necessary expropriations, affected services and connections with REE of the Ronda and Marchenilla substations.
