Inse Rail, in a joint venture, will draft the construction project for the new railway access to the Alicante airport, which includes the infrastructure, track, platforms and the new passenger station. The expected completion time for the drafting of the project is 24 months.

The railway access to El Altet Airport involves the construction of a bypass on the conventional, non-electrified line between Murcia and Alicante, with a platform equipped with multi-purpose sleepers for a final configuration of 2 UIC tracks. The access to be designed will connect to the Murcia-Alicante line near the Torrellano Station after the line enters the municipality of Alicante, with an approximate length of 4.75 Km.

The most important part of the project is the new station at the airport. Its underground design includes both the civil works of the cavern as well as its architecture, in addition to all of the non-railway facilities, on the land that is currently owned by AENA.

An important aspect to be taken into account is that the access point for travelers coming from the new station has already been defined in the airport’s new terminal.

Before and after the station, the route also runs underground between retaining walls, to eliminate the impact on the N-338 highway and the entrance road to the airport that would be generated by the construction of a rail access on the surface.

The section of underground tunnel between the retaining walls to the west of the station will be approximately 825 m long and the one located to the east, 333 m.
