The Haramain Highspeed Railway (HHR) Line, which links the cities of Mecca and Medina, the destination of Islamic pilgrimages, began operations with its first trip in October 2018 and reached the milestone the first million passengers in February 2020.
In 2011, Al Shoula, a Spanish-Saudi consortium (made up of 12 Spanish and 2 Saudi companies) was awarded the contract to build and operate the Line. The scope of this major project included the construction and commissioning of two train maintenance workshops in the cities of Medina and Mecca.
Inse Rail, in consortium with TPF Getinsa, was the engineering company chosen by RENFE in 2014 to provide technical and contract consulting on all aspects related to the Medina and Mecca maintenance workshops.
Some the main tasks that Inse Rail has carried out over the years include all of the work related to a Project Management contract, such as the coordination of all of the project stakeholders in order to meet the defined objectives.
Over the course of these 7 years working on this emblematic railway project, our day-to-day work has consisted of defending of our Client’s interests in relation with its consortium partners, both from a technical and contractual point of view, identifying needs and preparing technical proposals for the works to be carried out, searching for subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating and drafting contract terms, working with our client on the bidding process, quality control of the awarded works with monitoring all of the project works and economic control of the project.
