Adif has begun the works on the Electrical Traction Substation Installations, associated transformation centers and remote power control for the Salamanca – Fuentes de Oñoro stretch, which is part of the conventional gage line Medina del Campo – Salamanca – Fuentes de Oñoro.

When the stretch has been electrified, it will provide continuity to the Madrid-Valladolid High Speed Line through to Salamanca, allowing the trains that cover the connection with Madrid to benefit from significant improvements in terms of travel times.

These works represent a new step forward in the commitment to electrify the route from Medina del Campo to the Portuguese border that was taken on as part of the 26th Spanish-Portuguese Summit in Madrid.

The action requires an investment of 33 million euros for the execution of the works. In addition to this amount is the technical assistance work to monitor and control the works, which will be done by Inse Rail.

The works and activities that will be carried out as part of the technical assistance contract are the analysis, review and control of the construction projects, modified projects and liquidation projects, monitoring and control of the work prior to the execution of the works, monitoring and control during construction and installation of the works, and monitoring and control of work after the construction.

The scope of the contract includes actions in the energy supply installations, electrical traction substations, final and intermediate transformation center, remote power control, and two-phase 220 kV and 400 kV service connections from the REE substations to the traction substations, as well as the commissioning tests.
