Inse Rail, in a joint venture with the company Peyco, will draft the construction projects to extend the sidings in different stations in the southern section of the General Interest Railway Network to 750 meters.

The projects will be distributed on the following railway lines:

• Algeciras-Bobadilla
• Bobadilla-Córdoba
• Cordoba-Linares-Alcázar
• Seville-Huelva

These projects are aimed at providing the General Interest Railway Network with the optimal conditions to meet the needs of rail freight transport at the national and international levels and to take another step towards the interoperability of the railway network. In this sense, the extension of the sidings will allow the parking and siding of trains with the standard interoperable length, with the same quality and reliability of the existing service.

The scope of the construction projects will include the infrastructure, tracks and track electrification, and in general, all of the civil works needed to define the actions covered by the contract: reconfiguration of the layout of tracks, platforms and underpasses, adaptation of the civil works in the station, etc.

The contract tending process was based on Adif’s inventory work, which was based on different functional analyses and studies carried out in recent years to determine the different needs of the lines in the General Interest Railway Network in terms of the installation of 750-meter sidings.
