Consulting Projects

Law 7/2018, of March 26th, of the Generalitat, on railway safety, establishes the creation of the Valencian Railway Safety Agency, as the responsible authority under terms set out in Directive 2004/49/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, of April 29, 2004, on safety of EU railways. This authority is defined in Article 4.1.f) and its powers are defined in Article 1.2.b) of the aforementioned Law 7/2018.

The temporary provision four of the Law in question, gives the corresponding powers to the Directorate General responsible for transport of the Generalitat Valenciana, until the Agency is established, allowing it to seek specialized technical consulting on safety of railway travel.

The project has a dual objective:

• on one hand, to prepare technical reports related to documentation to be developed in the field of railway safety, as indicated in the aforementioned law, in order to make them available to the Valencian Railway Safety Agency.
• and on the other, to prepare technical consulting reports on railway safety that the General Directorate of Public Works, Transport and Mobility may need to temporarily exercise the functions of the Valencian Railway Safety Agency, including reports for the authorization of the commissioning of new railway projects or the modifications of existing infrastructure and inspection reports of tunnel projects, which must receive prior favorable reports from the Agency for approval.
