The Fuencarral High Speed Workshop in the Madrid-Norte Railway Complex was opened in December 2007 to maintain the trains travelling between Madrid and the northern part of the peninsula.

Based on the expected maintenance needs of the new trains that will be used to cover the routes, among other infrastructure, and due to the new High-Speed Lines that Adif Alta Velocidad will open on the north and northeast corridors, the construction of a new maintenance workshop was deemed necessary.

Inse Rail, in a joint venture with the companies Ofitep and Tec4 will draft the construction project for a new maintenance workshop, the Fuencarral II High Speed Workshop, in the aforementioned Madrid-Norte Railway Complex.

The purpose of the construction project is to provide a complete technical definition of the set of works required to commission the new state-of-the-art Fuencarral II workshop, including the railway infrastructure elements (track, electrification and safety and signaling installations), construction and urban development elements (drainage, roads, service connections, etc.) and all of the installations required for a fully operational maintenance complex with these characteristics.

The planned actions will be carried out entirely within the existing Madrid Norte Railway Complex (Fuencarral).

The solution that will be developed must provide the functionality required by the Client for each one of the elements that comprises the new High Speed Maintenance Base: track yards for entry and exit, parking yard, state-of-the-art maintenance building with five interior tracks and 10 train positions, office zone, storage, changing rooms, dining rooms, and installations control room, in addition to auxiliary buildings for maintenance equipment located outside. The entire facility will be provided with roads and parking areas.
