The contract is divided into three lots that correspond to the sub-sections defined in the informational study approved in 2024: Rincón de Soto, Alcanadre and Logroño.
Adif has awarded Inse Rail, in a joint venture with two other engineering companies, the Alcanadre subsection, where a variant of the route with double track has been planned.
The projects will define all the necessary actions to adapt the existing railway corridor, a 70.5 km section of electrified conventional-gage single track, to increase the maximum design speeds from 140 km/h to 200-220 km/h to reduce travel times from 48 minutes to half an hour.
The projects will include the comprehensive renovation of the track, treatment of trenches and embankments, adaptation of drainage systems, actions on the bridges that require it and the elimination of the 13 existing grade crossings on the route.
In addition, 750-meter siding tracks will be installed in the Calahorra and Arrúbal stations, which will make the infrastructure more versatile and will be especially beneficial for freight traffic.
