Metro de Madrid has awarded Inse Rail, in a joint venture with the company GIS, one of the three lots opened for tenders for the comprehensive conservation of the track superstructure and drainage elements along the 300 kilometers of the metro network.
According to the action plan, the works will begin in the coming months and will run for four years. The purpose of the maintenance of the approved track superstructure is to guarantee the levels and parameters of safety in travel, improve the reliability and durability of the network condition and increase passenger comfort, quality and satisfaction.
The planned work includes tunnels, auxiliary facilities, as well as large structures in stations. The tasks will be carried out at night and will not disturb the usual service.
The main actions to be carried out are:
- Replacement of the existing track system, which uses a concrete base and prefabricated blocks, with a bonded baseplate system, maintaining the track geometry.
- Correction of geometric defects of warping in slab track.
- Evaluation of trackside devices.
- Supervision of the maintenance of trackside and expansion device
