Alstom will build a new specific railway maintenance base in the Santa Perpètua Industrial Center in Mogoda, Barcelona, where it already carries out significant industrial activity, and is planning a major expansion and transformation of the plant to respond to the increase in national and international orders.
Inse Rail will be in charge of preparing the project for this new maintenance base in the complex, which also includes the connection with the existing railway network, the track yard to access the new workshop and the road access to the new facilities, involving an area of approximately 14 hectares.
The plot, owned by Alstom, is connected to ADIF’s Iberian-gage network, specifically with the Mollet-Santa Rosa station on line 222 managed by ADIF.
The new maintenance base, with measures planned for the main building, which is 121m long and 22m wide, will be located near the transformer substation, with a maneuver area that allows trailers to enter and exit at the same time.
With this new project, Inse Rail continues to establish itself as a leading company in the design of railway workshops and maintenance bases. It is currently drafting the project for ADIF’s first workshop in the Madrid – Sur maintenance sub-base, and has recently designed several maintenance workshops for RENFE, such as the new Fuencarral II high-speed workshop and the extensions of the Self-propelled workshop and the Santa Catalina II maintenance base.
Inse Rail has also been assisting RENFE since 2014 as the Project Manager of the construction and commissioning of the Medina maintenance workshop on the Haramain high-speed line that connects the cities of Mecca and Medina, in Saudi Arabia.
