Since May 2024, INSE RAIL has been providing technical assistance services for the supervision and monitoring of the works related to the implementation of the new 4+4+2 railway scheme at Atocha Cercanías station, a strategic project promoted by Adif to increase capacity and improve railway operations at Madrid’s main commuter rail hub.
As part of this project, Adif has recently started the construction of four new stabling tracks at the southern end of the station, intended for the parking and maintenance of high-capacity trains. The project also includes the execution of new railway connections, track switches, electrification works, signaling systems, and the adaptation of safety and communications facilities.
The new 4+4+2 scheme will increase the station’s operational flexibility, optimize traffic management, and strengthen the reliability and capacity of railway services at Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes, one of the busiest railway infrastructures in Spain.
With this contract, INSE Rail continues to strengthen its involvement in highly complex railway projects linked to the modernization and improvement of the national railway network.
