Passenger train traffic between Madrid, the Basque Country and Navarre currently runs on the Madrid-Barcelona High Speed Line, up to the Plasencia de Jal\u00f3n interchange, using this by-pass. The station&#8217;s current track configuration requires these trains to travel over a diverted track, which slows both odd and even trains, with eight trains in both directions affected by this situation.\u00a0Thanks to the complete remodeling of the header station on the Casetas\/Caba\u00f1as de Ebro side, by reconfiguring the general tracks, the delays generated by passing over the diverted track will be avoided.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Description of the work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main works include the elimination of level crossings between platforms by building underpasses and the extension of the siding track to 750 m, so that freight trains up to that length can be parked on it and leaving the general track free for other trains, without causing any problems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To configure the new track diagram, two track devices will replaced, displacing the entry turnouts, both in the Zaragoza loop and on the Caba\u00f1as de Ebro side, moving them up from their current positions. Another track device on the Madrid side will be moved towards Plasencia de Jal\u00f3n. The turnouts on the Zaragoza side will be the highest possible speed over the diverted track to avoid slowing Medium Distance traffic too much. The possibility of connecting tracks 1 and 3 with a new turnout to be able to crossover from the Opel branch will also be studied.
